On June 28, 2017, the school received the June 8-dated DepEd Memorandum to conduct the 2nd quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) the following day, June 29, 2017.
To comply, the Prefects of Discipline in the two divisions were tasked to disseminate the necessary information: evacuation routes, alarm bells, waiting time, and the DCH procedure.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), alongside the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), kicked off the “Bida ang Handa Campaign” which generally aims to promote disaster preparedness through the public’s participation in the National Simultaneous Drill(NSED). The main goal of the activity was to gather the maximum number of commitments via social media.

The campaign involves the participation of the government, private, academe, and media sectors as well as other stakeholders by generating a photo and/or video of individuals doing a preparedness activity with the fan sign or spoken statement: “Mag-da-Duck, Cover, and Hold kami sa June 29, 2017! Dahil bida ang handa! #Bida Ang Handa is the official hashtag for this year’s NSED.” (Taken from

The official date for the orientation of LRMS students on the Disaster Management Program is on July 10, 2017.
This first drill proves that our Ruizian students already know what to do. Nonetheless, there is still a lot of room for improvement especially in terms of students’ attitude toward taking the drill school seriously.
