LRMS CHRISTIAN FORMATION PROGRAM

As a Catholic school, the Christian Formation Program of Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila School is at the core toward the realization of the school’s vision and mission. The Christian Life Center, together with the Christian Living Education teachers, are at the service of the students, employees, and parents in its implementation. With the hope of enabling Ruizians to have a deep personal encounter with Jesus and build the Church among them, this Christian Formation program has three components: Religious Education, Campus Ministry, and Social Action Ministry. These components are reflective of the three dimensions of faith: Doctrine, Worship, and Morals and emphasize catechesis, worship and prayer, and witnessing.

  1. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION/Catechetical Ministry (Doctrine)

Hopes to ensure the Ruizians’ intellectual formation on the creedal truths of the Catholic faith. Education (CLE) subject from Preschool to Grade 12.

    1. LRMS, being a Catholic school, requires all students to attend the Christian Living Education (CLE) from Preschool to Grade 12.

    2. Non-Catholic students are required to take CLE as an enrichment subject. They must promptly inform their respective class adviser and CLE teacher of their boundaries. Mutual respect in the practice of faith is observed by everybody.

    3. New students from Grade 2 to Grade 12 particularly those who come from non-Catholic schools are given orientation and undergo an intervention program that will help them cope with the CLE lessons.

    4. Employees undergo a trimestral Catechetical instruction.

  2. CAMPUS MINISTRY (Worship)

Hopes to activate and deepen the Ruizians’ prayer and sacramental life through the grace of the Risen Christ in their celebration of the Holy Eucharist and other religious activities.

    Prayers and Sacraments

    1. The Eucharist is the highest form of prayer and is central to the Ruizian community.
      • A regular 7:30 a.m. Mass by class, division or institution is celebrated Tuesdays to Fridays with the school chaplain from the Marian Missionaries of the Holy Cross.
      • LRMS participates in the 9:30 a.m. Mass of the Immaculate Conception Parish at Phase 7, Vista Verde Executive Village every 3rd Sunday from July to February. With the support of the Parent’s Assembly, Mass sponsors are scheduled by Grade levels.
      • The Grade 3 level and transferees are prepared in their CLE classes and receive their First Holy Communion. Parents of the first communicants have their recollection.

    2. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to students and employees in their annual retreat or recollection. To prepare them, the first communicants, confirmands, and graduating students are also scheduled for confession.

    3. Daily prayers include Morning Assembly prayers, Angelus at 12 noon, and the Divine Mercy prayer at 3:00 p.m. Daily praying of the Holy Rosary is done in the month of October, the Novena in honor of St. Lorenzo Ruiz on nine days, before the feast on September 28, the Advent prayers, the occasional Prayer Service in solidarity with the Universal Church.

Worship Ministry and the Pontifical Mission Societies

    1. One of the core values of LRMS is SERVICE which emphasizes readiness to be of help not only to the material needs of their fellowmen but also to the Church’s evangelical ministries. The LRMS Worship Ministry provides opportunities to students to concretize what they have learned in their CLE classes by being God’s little instruments in proclaiming His kingdom on earth.

    2. Membership is on a voluntary basis to students from Grades 4 to Grade 12 who are baptized Catholics and desire to serve in the Ministry of Altar Servers (boys only), Lectors & Commentators, and Music Ministry.

    3. Members receive weekly formation every Wednesday after class. They serve in the Eucharistic celebrations and other religious activities and take part in the missionary activities done in and outside of the school.

    4. Members of the Worship Ministry are encouraged to join the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS). This is an international organization of school children, youth, and religious who are under the direct supervision of the Pope. I aims to enhance the missionary spirit among the baptized and to support the missionary activities of the Mother Church. From among the Worship Ministry members, the PMS gives yearly recognition to deserving students who have manifested exemplary socio-religious involvement.

  3. SOCIAL ACTION MINISTRY (Morals)

hopes to provide Ruizians with opportunities to follow the way of life of the Lord Jesus Christ in their moral decisions and social responsibilities.

    1. Annual Outreach activities are spearheaded by the CLC with the Grade 10 to Grade 12 students together with the volunteer employees and parents.
